To promote an ethical workplace culture, all faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report known or suspected misconduct committed by employees, outside contractors, or vendors. For purposes of the compliance hotline, the term “misconduct” means fraud, waste, abuse, or non-compliance with laws or University policies.
UT’s Code of Conduct outlines the basic expectations for employees and highlights policy requirements and training resources. Please take a few minutes to review the Code and make note of the areas it covers, such as respecting others, reporting violations, and avoiding conflicts of interest.

The Office of Audit and Compliance is responsible for investigating allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse for the UT System; compliance and other violations are investigated by the appropriate offices at the campuses.

Several options are available for reporting known or suspected misconduct. You’re encouraged to report your concerns:
- To your supervisor or department head
- To an official at your campus or institute
- To the Human Resources Call Center: 1-888-444-8847
- To campus hotlines
- Directly to the Office of Audit and Compliance
- Directly to the State Comptroller’s Hotline for Fraud, Waste, and Abuse: 1-800-232-5454
- Anonymously by phone or online submission using the UT Compliance Hotline, an independent, third-party resource
The following reports are not accepted via the UT Compliance Hotline: discrimination in violation of University policies, sexual misconduct, relationship violence (dating violence or domestic violence), stalking, child abuse, and/or child sexual abuse. Reports concerning discrimination in violation of University policies should be reported directly to the Office of Equity and Diversity (numbers listed below). Reports concerning sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and/or stalking should be reported directly to the Office of Equity and Diversity or the University employee(s) identified in the applicable campus/institute policy on sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and stalking. Reports concerning child abuse or child sexual abuse should be reported in accordance with Section 2 of UT Policy SA0575.
